The Soul Food Backpack Program, which provides nutritious and easy-to-prepare food for school children in need across eastern Kentucky, announced it has added 50 additional students from May Valley Elementary and Betsy Layne Elementary, bringing the total number of children served to 365 for the 2024 school year. This brings the total monthly delivered meals to 5,840.

About the Soul Food Backpack Program
The Soul Food Backpack Program is a non-profit organization serving children in need in eastern Kentucky. Its mission is to provide hungry children with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food to take home on weekends and school vacations when school meal programs are unavailable. The program currently serves 365 children across 17 schools.
